GARDEN OF GROWTH

Tevin Redvall (SE)

A captivating dance performance that takes you on a journey where movement becomes a language of self-discovery. Tevin’s personal transformative experiences, and introspection, led him to explore the importance of self-respect, of setting boundaries and embracing self-love. Through this performance, he invites to reflect on our own definition of growth.

WHITE NOISE

Luciano Goizueta (CR)

White Noise ignites a conversation within HERE:2023.

Luciano’s integration of visual arts and technology challenges us to confront white noise and find meaning within its symphony.

Luciano’s love for science, self-awareness and art combines in a variety of works that can be colourful texturised acrylic, inspired by scientific phenomena, or decontextualised objects that explores the idea of abandonment and decaying of cities, miniature environments in a box, or a suitcase, and detailed collages covering large surfaces.

THE GAP

Liza Penkova (SE)

Drawing on Penkova’s own experience of encountering Western culture as a teenager and later contemporary dance, she attempts to make visible a feeling of constant delay. A kind of temporal gap which she needed to fill, in order to catch up with the timelines of contemporary Western aesthetics. Alternating between silence, music, soundtracks with voices from dance icons and her own reflections on norms and values between East and West, the audience is drawn into an hour long dance-solo with elements of melodrama and humour.

BATTY BWOY

Harald Beharie (NO)

A dance solo which starts from a place of play and desire, entangled in violence and charming cruelty. Through a reappropriation of the Jamaican term ‘batty bwoy’ (literally: ‘butt boy’), slang for a queer person, the work is a corporal fiction, inseparable from queer blackness. It invokes demonic sensitivities and charming cruelties, while unfolding vulnerability, in an interplay of consciousness and naivety. The horror and joy of Batty Bwoy, inherent to queer blackness, is unmasked.

STILL LOVE

Csenger Szabó (HU) / Fenia Chatzakou (GR)

Still Love is a duet about relationships. It’s a dialogue through physical interaction in a playground-like environment. “A landscape of states emerges, and our presence emanates through moment to moment responses, that make up the coherent arch of narratives and meaning. An ever-growing physicality anchors us in space, and helps our emotions sublimate into differently coloured atmospheres. We play games to learn anew and to reinvent our love.”

MICROTUB

Robin Hayward (UK) / Peder Simonsen (NO)
Martin Taxt (NO)

Microtub is something as unique. Founded in 2010, it’s the world's first microtonal tuba ensemble. The trio intriguing sonic research exudes a powerful visceral quality. It has performed in festivals like Maerzmusik in Berlin, Sonic Acts in Amsterdam, Wien Modern, Ultima Festival in Oslo, INTONAL in Malmö and Sound of Stockholm. At HERE:2023 they will perform music from their upcoming album which was partly developed under a residency in Sweden, in October 2020. Here they explore new sounds using different half-valve fingerings for the tubas.

HORIZON

Petra Hrašćanec (HR) / Saša Božić (HR) / Luka Švajda (HR) / Hahn Rowe (US)

HORIZON explores myths and rituals associated with
the desert, phenomena and relationships that evaporate, decay and disappear. It questions the ways of being in spite of the boundaries of our flesh and the environment that surrounds us. In that desert we are together, against; sensing the new, touching, longing and changing. Horizon offers visions, mirages, reflections and traces all for the purpose of creating a new ecology of being. An intriguing and dark piece.

NATURE: Dialogue

Dragana Alfirević / Beno Novak / Marko Batista / Slobodan Maksimović (SI)

“We take the questions “Can we see dance as we see the nature? Can we enter the dance as we enter into the nature?” and ask how these questions in return form the ways of production of choreographic material and especially the ways of experiencing dance/ watching dance? What kind of exchange this becomes?”

NATURE: Dialogue will be presented site specific in two different locations outdoor in Tanum and also streamed digitally to several other locations.

SUBSTRAT

Asle Nyborg (NO)

Asle's paintings are open to different techniques and approaches. Photo emulsion, regular photo, drawing and text. The paintings are made up of associations, inspirations and visual sources that fascinates him. "Many images have found their beginnings in song lyrics or dialogue fragments from favorite films, initiated by poetry collections and fiction. In my works there are all these different expressions and references to literature, film and music, especially clearly in the titles and text elements in the images. The work process is a constant dance to create a balance between chaos and harmony in the image, between surface and content."

Asle Nyborg lives and works in Höganäs and was the owner of Vitlycke before it became a residency place for performing arts.

U.F.O: Hommage to Katalin Ladik

Irena Z. Tomažin (SI) / Jule Flierl (DE)

The Hungarian-Serbian poet and performer Katalin Ladik is considered the ‘Yoko Ono of the Balkans’ — a pioneer of noise and performance art. Ladik’s radical performance UFO Party (1969), shook the artistic scene at the time.

In their first collaboration, German sound dancer Jule Flierl and Slovenian choreo-vocalist Irena Z. Tomažin celebrate their shared interest in Ladik's artistic position: a homage that blurs the boundaries between poetry, acting and experimental voice work, while continuing the two artists' own research into the physical experience of language and the articulation of different layers of the voice.

BLOT - Body Line of Thought

Vanessa Goodman (CA) / Simona Deaconescu (RO)

BLOT explores movement in relation to the bacteria in our body. The show presents the body as an interconnected system, strong and fragile at the same time. Stripped of the social meanings determined by language, the body is redefined through a dialogue about our coexistence with microbiological beings.

In BLOT, our salts are a conductor of creativity, electricity, and infection. Salt is shared by all, from ocean to soil and body, and is an essential supporter of life on earth. A dune of salt creates a collective body on stage. Our perspiration system defines our biological identity through our unique body odour created by bacteria.

AGENDA

Simone Aughterlony (DE/CH) / Saša Božić (HR)

Agenda stems from an extensive research into the term ‘stranger’ and the multitude of articulation within the concepts and affects of strangeness, diversity, and otherness, through the lens of the collage. The impulse to remix and re-edit media, as well as the analog desire to take, tear, and tape imagery.

A special collaboration of a large number of Croatian, German, Belgian and Swiss dance artists. The performance is included in the Zagreb Dance Center's Residential Program, and it premiered at the opening of the 40th Contemporary Dance Week Festival in June 2023 in Zagreb.

Under the direction of American percussionist Jennifer Torrance, they will work on a program that includes poetic piece ‘Ricefall’ by Michael Pisaro-Liu, where 20kg of rice grains fall on leaves, ceramics, plastic and metal, and their own creative interpretation of gamelan music, on homemade scrap instruments!
